Man Charged with DUI after Crash Going 100mph on Interstate 580

Early Sunday morning, January 18, Randy Gauthier and an unknown passenger were driving eastbound on Interstate 580 near 98th Avenue. They were going more than 100mph. Suddenly, Gauthier lost control of his car, crossed the center divide, went airborne, and smashed into a Hyundai. Luckily, the driver of the Hyundai sustained what seemed like only minor injuries. Gauthier and his passenger, however, were not as lucky. They were transported to Highland Hospital with major injuries and Gauthier was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.

The Importance of a Trusted DUI Attorney

Driving under the influence is a very serious offense, often resulting in loss of driver's license, hefty fines, and even jail time. Yet injuring another person in a DUI carries penalties that are more serious. You could even be charged with DUI vehicular manslaughter if another person is killed. As such, if you are arrested and charged with DUI in an accident that involved injury, it is important to speak to an experienced Oakland DUI attorney immediately. Your attorney will need to begin preparing a solid defense against your DUI charge and for any potentially escalated charges, such as DUI vehicular manslaughter.

If this is your second, third, or even fourth offense, it is even more important to have an Oakland DUI lawyer on your side from the very start. Multiple DUI offenses are significantly damaging to your criminal record, your driving record, and your future.
